Madame Fromage’s Traveling Cheese School

Cheese School

Put on your new jeans! Grab your pencil case and your new BFF! It’s time for some serious cheese school. Below you’ll find a list of events where you can find me this fall, starting with two library-rific tastings and continuing into October for three awesome tutorials at Metropolitan Café in Center City — the official launch of my Traveling Cheese School. A big thanks to the folks at Metro for inviting me in for this series — and for writing such a delicious blog post about it.

Don’t worry, I’ll post more information about these classes in the coming weeks, but I just wanted to give you an overview in case you, like me, live and die by your day planner. Plus, I wanted you to know that I am debuting a Traveling Cheese School! It’s a little bit like a traveling circus, except with dare-devil rinds instead of tigers. And you don’t have to feel sad about the elephants.

September 16: It’s a Fall Cheese Plate Primer at the Charles Santore Library, 6 p.m. This class is limited to 30. To register, call librarian Jeanne Haman (215)-686-1766. Hurry — the class is filling up, and you’re not going to want to miss eating Stilton and drinking Port with me amid the stacks. Plus, it’s free!

September 18: Join me in the library of Saint Joseph’s University’s Post Learning Commons for a noon-hour cheese tasting and book signing. I’ll be in the Wachterhauser Seminar Room (second floor) from noon-1:30 p.m. It’s free, but you may be quizzed about the contents of your lunch.

September 28: I’ll be demoing a Seasonal Cheese Pairing Class at Lancaster Central Market, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. I’m teaming up with Phoebe’s Pure Food for this awesome demo that will include local produce and dreamy dairy. You’ll leave with autumnal entertaining ideas, recipes, and a copy of my new book — all for $65. Tonight, you can find me teaching a Beer and Cheese 101 class from 4-5:30 p.m. at Stoudt’s Wonderful Good Market. We’ll feast on a trio of ferments made on the premises: beer, cheese, and bread. Tickets are $65 and include a signed book.

September 30: CHEESE SCHOOL DEBUT! Tonight is the first of three classes at Metropolitan Café, just off Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. Tonight’s Wedges and Beer Class focuses on Victory Brewing Co. and will include a variety of cheeses, some of them local, served with Metropolitan Bakery bread. Upcoming classes at Metropolitan Cafe include Wedges and Wine (10/7) and a Birchrun Hill Sampler with cheesemaker Sue Miller (10/21). Classes are $35 each, or sign up for all three classes for $100.

Coming up in October, I’ll be at Whole Foods in Devon, PA (10/26) to discuss “Scary Rinds!”

    Salut!
I’m a French teacher, any chance you would come to present to one of my classes? We could also arrange to meet you somewhere.
I work in Wayne, my classes are small, and truly lovely kids!
